# Submission to the Australia and Singapore Digital Cooperation Initiative

Submission to the Australia and Singapore Digital Cooperation Initiative on the renegotiation of the Digital Economy Agreement of the Singapore–Australia Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA).

**Summary:** Blockchain technology will shape digital trade across the Asia-Pacific. The submission proposes two areas for the Digital Economy Agreement: blockchain as new economic infrastructure for trusted supply-chain information, making trade between Australia and Singapore more frictionless; and blockchain-based storage and verification of educational and professional credentials, to support labour mobility between the two countries.
