Summary: Digital technologies bring new opportunities to every economy, but their shape depends on each economy’s industrial structure and institutions. This report asks what web3 technologies offer Australia: a well-educated, highly urbanised, stable property-owning democracy with a small, open economy dominated by export-focused primary industries. The main benefits will come from tokenisation, bringing efficiencies in trade, capital and financial infrastructure and innovation where fintech, tradetech and regtech converge. Realising them will need the kind of deep institutional review Australia last undertook with the Campbell and Hilmer reports.
